Webhook Integration Guide

This guide sends events from Sysadmin Anywhere to an n8n workflow. It is separate from the n8n API connection used to manage workflows in the application.

  1. Create a workflow and add a Webhook trigger configured for HTTP POST.
  2. Copy the production URL shown by the Webhook node and activate the workflow.
  3. Add processing or notification nodes after the trigger.
  1. Sign in with an administrator account and open Settings → Webhooks.
  2. Add the n8n production URL, set a secret, and select the events to send.
  3. Save the webhook and use its test action to check delivery.

Supported event types: incident.created, incident.updated, incident.closed, user.created, user.updated, user.deleted, group.created, group.updated, and group.deleted. Select specific events or * for all.

The request has this top-level shape; data depends on the event:

{
"event": "incident.created",
"timestamp": "2026-01-15T10:30:00Z",
"data": {}
}

Requests include Content-Type: application/json and X-Sysadmin-Event. When a secret is configured, X-Sysadmin-Signature contains sha256=<hex>, an HMAC-SHA256 signature of the raw request body. Verify it before acting on the payload. The test action sends webhook.test.

A 2xx response counts as successful delivery; failed delivery is retried up to three times. Use HTTPS outside a trusted private network, keep the secret private, and avoid exposing it in execution logs.

If no event arrives, check that the n8n workflow is active, the saved URL is its production URL, the event is selected, and the receiver returns 2xx. Inspect a test execution before referencing fields inside data.
